Being a cutting and drying center for sawnwood, we are frequently approached for kiln-dried firewood. The interest for high-quality firewood made of hardwood is so big, that we are producing approx. 7.000 bulk stacked cubic metre (BCM) / = 100 truck loads dried firewood from September through March for firewood traders.
→ Why use wood for heating?
Not only is wood the cheaper, but in addition the environmentally better fuel. A pile of beechwood of 1 metre each in length, width and heigth has the same heat value as 230 liters of heating oil. In comparison to heating oil, wood is approximately 30% cheaper.
Further advantages include:
Our fresh domestic forest-roundwood (beech/oak) from sustainably forested regional forests of the Steigerwald, is carefully cross-cut in high quantities, perfectly and regular splitted for heaters/chimneys (25 cm, 33 cm or 50cm), and dried in big drying-kilns to a residual moisture of approx. 25% for immediate application. The splitting of roundwood up to a max. diameter of 45cm is done by a fully automatic chain-splitting-machine including a twelvefold splitcross (Binderberger SSP-D 450). This provides a standardized and slim product. Splinters, shavings and pollutants are being sieved afterwards.
The entire production takes place under complete roof-protection against bad weather conditions. After being cross-cut, the wood falls directly from the conveyor belt into cages - so there will be no ground contact, so that fungus infections can be ruled out.
Technical drying in our drying-kilns is conducted in standardized pallet cages. We have two large-scale-drying-kilns of each 190 BCM disposable for this purpose. The heating is done by a 2,3 MWatt chips-heating system. The drying time takes between 7 and 10 days, depending on the weather conditions and the moisture at starting point. This corresponds to a open air drying of 1,5 to 2 years. Thus, we and consequently our clients can deliver dry firewood year-round.
The dried firewood is loaded into "walking-floor"-saddle-lay-downs (approx. 77 BCM) or wheel-containers (approx. 65 BCM). Then it is weighted on our calibrated truck-scales. We deliver solely to the fuel- and firewood trade in the entire Federal Republic of Germany.
